Covid, Cold or Flu A&B – 4 in 1 PCR test

£169.00

What can I expect from this Covid, Cold or Flu A&B – 4 in 1 PCR test?

Woken up with a runny nose or feel under the weather? Worried it may be Covid-19, a cold or the flu? With one swab, this test will allow you to quickly tell you if you have the flu, COVID-19 or Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), which can cause colds.

Infections with SARS-CoV-2, Influenza A&B and/or RSV have similar symptoms, but this test will allow you to confirm which infection you have so that you can take the appropriate action.

This RT-PCR test will test the presence of the following viruses:.

  1. SARS-CoV-2, the respiratory coronavirus pathogen which is responsible for COVID-19.
  2. Influenza, also called flu, is a contagious respiratory disease caused by influenza viruses. Influenza A and B are the most common types and this test can differentiate between them. A flu infection causes mild to severe illness but can be serious and even lethal.
  3. Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a virus that causes cold-like symptoms and infects the upper and lower respiratory tract. Infants and young children are especially at risk of developing a severe RSV infection resulting in hospitalisation.

If you test positive or you do not feel well enough to go to work or carry out normal activities, you should stay home and avoid contact with other people. For more information please see the UK government website.

What is the difference between the four respiratory viruses?

SARS-CoV-2 is the respiratory coronavirus pathogen which is responsible for COVID-19. If you have a positive COVID-19 test result, it is very likely that you have COVID-19 even if you do not have any symptoms. You can pass on the infection to others, even if you have no symptoms. If you have a positive COVID-19 test result, you should stay home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days after the day you took your test. For more information visit https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus.

Influenza, also called flu, is a contagious respiratory disease caused by influenza viruses. Influenza A and B are the most common types and this test can differentiate between them. It impacts the nose, throat, and sometimes the lungs. A flu infection causes mild to severe illness but can be serious and even lethal.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a virus that causes cold-like symptoms and infects the upper and lower respiratory tract. Infants and young children are especially at risk of developing a severe RSV infection resulting in hospitalisation.

I’m due to travel and require a COVID-19 test, is this suitable?

No this is not suitable for travel. Please select the COVID-19 travel test with which you will receive a ‘fit to fly’ certificate and a report signed by a doctor that you can use as your fit-to-fly / travel certificate.
